IDRA Announces the Call for Extended Abstracts for the IDRA 2024 World Congress: Addressing Water Scarcity, December 8-12, 2024 in Abu Dhabi, UAE

On September 27, 2023, in Boston, United States, the International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) announced the return of its flagship event to Abu Dhabi, marking almost two decades since the 1995 IDRA World Congress in the same city. This highly anticipated event, the IDRA 2024 World Congress, is scheduled to take place during the week of December 8-12, 2024, in the breathtaking city of Abu Dhabi, UAE. The venue chosen for this prestigious gathering is the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), renowned for hosting world-class events.

Hosted by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, the IDRA 2024 World Congress and its accompanying exhibition promise to be a hub of knowledge-sharing and interactive opportunities. Participants can expect a wide array of discussions covering technical and business topics related to desalination and water reuse solutions, all aimed at securing a sustainable water future.

The central theme of the IDRA 2024 World Congress is “Addressing Water Scarcity.” The pressing need to ensure a sustainable future while fostering resilient communities. As part of an Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM), Desalination and Water Reuse emerge as pivotal solutions to efficiently meet the growing demand for water and address threats to water security. Despite advances toward achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal #6, “Water and Sanitation for All,” significant portions of the global population still lack access to safe water, sanitation, and handwashing facilities.

To foster an inclusive exchange of ideas, we extend this invitation to all interested parties to submit extended abstracts for consideration in the IDRA’s 20th Biennial World Congress Technical Program.

The World Congress agenda will span four days, featuring parallel technical sessions, high-level plenary sessions, a Leaders Summit, Hackathon, Datathon, engaging business discussions, IDRA Academy Courses, enlightening Plant Tours, an enchanting Welcome Reception, a memorable Gala Dinner, and an inspiring Awards Ceremony.

The Congress Technical Program Committee is led by two esteemed members of the IDRA Board of Directors and two distinguished experts from the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, who will serve as the Technical Program Committee Co-Chairs. Together, they are assembling a dynamic technical committee comprising members from diverse areas of expertise from across the globe.
