Overview

The International Desalination Association (IDA) certifies the knowledge and proficiency of personnel who work with reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) technologies through David H. Paul, Inc.’s (DHP’s) Reverse Osmosis Specialist Certification Program.


  • Knowledge = understanding of theory, chemistry, monitoring, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Proficiency = ability to perform specific tasks related to RO water treatment

Levels

The Reverse Osmosis Specialist Certification Program has four levels.  These are:

Each of the four levels of certification are most commonly obtained by attending a three-day hands-on training seminar.  Level 1 is the only level that has the option to be obtained online.

Certification

  • Certification is for 3 years
  • Recertification requires 24 hours of additional approved training every 3 years
    • Can be the next certification level
    • Can be any DHP or IDA seminar
    • Can be any other pertinent water treatment training that is approved
  • Recertification also requires passing a 50-question exam that covers similar questions as the certification exam(s)
