Mr. Jon Freedman Elected President of the International Desalination and Reuse
Association and Officers Announced for the 2024-2026 Term
Abu Dhabi, December 12, 2024 – The International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) proudly announces the election of Mr. Jon Freedman, global head of policy and stakeholder engagement for water quality, Veralto, as its President for the 2024-2026 term by the Term 21 IDRA Board of Directors. Mr. Freedman’s extensive contributions to the desalination and water reuse sector and dedication to advancing sustainable water solutions make him a standout leader for the Association’s next chapter.
As the incoming President, Mr. Freedman, stated: “It is an honor to lead IDRA during such a pivotal time for water sustainability. Together with our members and partners, we will continue to drive innovation and collaboration to address the global water challenges we face.”
Ms. Shannon McCarthy, who was reappointed as the IDRA Secretary General, expressed her confidence in the incoming leadership, stating: “We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Freedman as our next President. His vision and commitment to water security will undoubtedly propel IDRA’s mission forward.”
In addition to Mr. Freedman’s election, Mr. Carlos Cosín, CEO of Almar Water Solutions, has been named 1st Vice President. Mr. Hoon Hyung, President, LG Water Solutions, has been named 2nd Vice President. Mrs. Jantje Johnson, CEO of Orangeboat, has been named Secretary of the Board, and Mr. Imad Makhzoumi, CEO of Enoia, has been named Treasurer. These appointments signal a robust leadership team committed to fostering global collaboration in addressing critical water challenges.
The complete slate of officers and committee chairs for the 2024-2026 term will be finalized and announced by the end of January 2025.
