This prestigious award celebrates the innovative approaches and strategies a project employs that successfully addresses the interconnected challenges of water sustainability and energy efficiency.

Criteria:

This award is presented to the project that bridges the gap and capitalizes on the synergies between its community’s water and energy needs in the following areas:

  1. Integration of Water and Energy Systems: The winning project will demonstrate a high level of integration between water and energy systems, showcasing innovative technologies or practices that capitalize on the symbiotic relationship between these critical resources.
  2. Resource Efficiency: Projects that exhibit exceptional resource efficiency, optimizing the use of water and energy resources in tandem, will be considered. This may include initiatives to reduce water consumption in energy production or utilize energy-efficient technologies in water treatment processes.
  3. Renewable Energy Integration: The awarded project will showcase the integration of renewable energy sources to power water-related processes or utilize water resources to generate clean energy. This may involve technologies such as hydropower, wave, wind, and solar-powered desalination, or innovative energy recovery systems in water treatment.
  4. Community Impact: Projects that positively impact the local community and demonstrate tangible benefits such as improved access to clean water, enhanced energy resilience, or job creation will be considered.

Presented at the IDRA World Congress 2024 in Abu Dhabi, graciously hosted by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy. This award aims to inspire and commend projects that exemplify the potential for synergy between water and energy needs, fostering innovation in resource management and contributing to a more sustainable and resilient future.

The IDRA is honored to spotlight the project that bridges the gaps and capitalizes on synergies between its community’s water and energy needs.

 

Nomination process:

Nominations are exclusively open to active IDRA members. It’s important to note that IDRA membership is not a prerequisite for the entity being nominated. To submit your nominations, kindly forward the required information to awards@idrawater.org on or before the deadline of August 31, 2024.
